Agreement with Mail Boxes Etc. provides 3,400 physical locations to send deposit envelopes free of charge via UPS
For Immediate Release
IRVINE, CA, July 27, 2000 - National InterBank (NIB), the Internet's premier private-label bank provider, today announced an agreement with Mail Boxes Etc. (MBE), the world's largest franchiser of retail business communications and postal services, that enables NIB customers to drop off non-cash bank deposits for mailing at any of MBE's more than 3,400 national locations free of charge. The deposits will be mailed daily by MBE to NIB via UPS.
Each time NIB customers drop off a deposit for mailing at Mail Boxes Etc., they will receive a UPS tracking number that will allow them to monitor the status of their shipment. The value-added service, set to begin in August, gives NIB customers another way to make account deposits quickly, conveniently and securely.
"We have long acknowledged internally that a brick-and-mortar establishment is critical to our success," said Ron Hynes, vice president of marketing and strategic partnerships for National InterBank. "Mail Boxes Etc. - with its nationwide presence and reputation for customer service - is an obvious choice for a partner to provide our customers with a convenient, reliable means for mailing their deposits. Deposit mailing capability is just the beginning, as we will look to expand customer services available through MBE in the near future."
"This agreement with National Interbank furthers our strategy to become a true click-and-mortar solution for e-business transactions. MBE’s more than 3,400 centers across the U.S. can provide a touchpoint or physical presence for customers of an Internet-only bank to come and mail their deposits. It’s one more example of how MBE is bringing high-trust and high-touch to the world of high-tech," said James H. Amos, president and CEO of Mail Boxes Etc.
National InterBank (www.nationalinterbank.com), a federally chartered and FDIC-insured institution, functions as a private-label banking portal for partner companies who wish to offer a banking presence on the Internet. The full-service, 24/7 Web-based institution provides a wide range of no-fee online banking services that enables partner companies to build and sustain brand loyalty while creating a significant competitive advantage.
In addition to the new MBE service, NIB customers may make deposits by a number of alternative means. Existing options include: standard postal service via postage-paid envelopes provided to every customer, direct deposit, ATM deposits through any of the 13,000 nationwide MAC ATMs, automated clearing house (ACH) transfer, electronic funds transfer via the Internet and wire transfer. |
