SAN DIEGO (November 22, 1999) - Mail Boxes Etc. (MBE), the world’s largest franchisor of retail business, communication and postal service centers, today announced a corporate agreement with DHL Airways, Inc., the U.S. arm of DHL Worldwide Express, the world’s largest and most experienced international air express network. The agreement allows MBE’s 3,300+ independently owned and operated franchised locations in the U.S. to offer their customers access to the extensive international reach of DHL’s global network.
Under the agreement, participating U.S. MBE locations will offer customers seeking international shipping solutions a variety of DHL products and services, including express delivery to 635,000 destinations in more than 230 countries. MBE entered into the agreement with DHL because of its international expertise and 30 years of experience in the international air express industry.
The DHL network operates more than 2,300 service centers around the world and serves more countries and cities than any other air express network. DHL specializes in international door-to-door express shipping of goods of any weight and size, from documents to heavy freight. With DHL’s extensive international reach, MBE expects it will be able to provide customers with the fastest possible customs clearance of documents and packages.
"We are pleased to introduce DHL as a value-added service to our customers," said James Amos, MBE president and CEO. "Our nationwide network of locations has been experiencing increased demand for international shipping capabilities.
