Current Executive Vice President Stuart Mathis to assume leadership in October

SAN DIEGO (August 19, 2002) - Mail Boxes Etc. (MBE) today announced that Stuart Mathis, executive vice president of operations, has been named as the next president of the UPS subsidiary. Mathis will succeed President and CEO Jim Amos who is retiring at the end of September and will be honored as chairman emeritus.
Mathis, an experienced franchising professional, joined MBE in 2001 as executive vice president of operations. He came to MBE from Domino’s Pizza Inc., where he served for 14 years, climbing to the rank of executive vice president of franchise operations.
Mathis holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Georgia and a master's degree in business administration from Georgia State University.

As executive vice president, Mathis is currently responsible for MBE center operations and support, including purchasing, training, and center design. Under his direction, MBE has brought greater efficiencies to the operational support function and enhanced the relationship with the company’s franchisees.
